Pope podcast hints at broadcast revolution.

Two things have captured my attention on the past couple of weeks. Firstly, along with the rest of the world it seems (Catholic or not), I've been intrigued by the coverage of the passing of Pope John Paul II. Whatever you think of the church, there was a guy who from all accounts lived his faith through action. Then in a completely different world altogether, I've discovered this growing world of "podcasting".

Although being a gadget-phile, I'm behind the times as far as iPods and personal music players, but it seems like a cool thing - like an RSS news feed but for audio files (or so I've read). But here you have a classic situation of two worlds colliding - The podcast of the funeral of the Pope.

What's even more amazing is that it was a Dutch Catholic priest who set it up and narrated the whole thing. You have to admire some people's thinking when it comes to their approach to using technology. Check out the "Catholic Insider - Podcasting from the heart of the Catholic Church" here.
